"La Tosca" -
IGT Rosso Toscano
VINTAGE
2002
GRAPES
- 50% Merlot, 50% Cabernet Sauvignon
CLIMATE VINTAGE - The year 2002 was a wet year which brought with it a variety of problems. Thanks to some very hard work in the fields prior to the harvest we still managed to obtain a high quality of grape.
VINIFICATION -
The grapes were harvested separately: the Merlot on the 14th September and the Cabernet Sauvignon in the 7 of October. The grapes have been softly crushed and put into cement tanks where the must went through alcoholic fermentation, after 15 days of maceration the wine was transferred into French barriques, where the malolactic fermentation took place and where the wine remained for another 12 months. Before putting "La Tosca" on the market a last aging process took place in the bottle for 6 months at a controlled temperature.
TASTE -
Intense perfume with hints of red fruit and spices; a good structure with a delicious after taste. Best with red meat, game and strong cheeses. |
